01Define the boundary
Identify the actor, target resource and operation that identity provider is meant to govern.
02Configure the policy
Use the identity provider as the policy-aware home for identity records, authenticator requirements, protocol integrations and lifecycle transitions. Keep application permissions explicit and evaluate which party owns each decision.
03Exercise the edge cases
A business customer signs in through its configured SAML or OIDC connection; the identity classification and applicable network and assurance requirements are evaluated before access proceeds. Also test the path that should be denied, deferred or sent for review.
04Review the outcome
Check that the resulting state is understandable and that the decision can be investigated later. For audit-enabled operations, confirm the relevant actor and context are captured.
